Featured Partner: Meet Ryan Wilson of the Wilson Group

At Curbside Real Estate, we’ve built a network of trusted partners who understand the unique needs of physicians and medical professionals and are committed to making the home-buying process easier.

Our Featured Partner Series introduces you to the people behind the Curbside network. Through a handful of questions, we share their expertise, advice, and a little of what makes them who they are beyond their professional credentials.

This month, we’re excited to introduce Ryan Wilson of the Wilson Group at Keller Williams Chestnut Hill, serving the Greater Boston area.

Ryan brings a relationship-first approach to real estate, with a focus on educating clients, understanding their goals, and helping them feel prepared for the decisions that come with buying a home. That approach has helped the Wilson Group build a business where 90% of their business comes from repeat and referral clients.

Ryan’s leadership extends beyond real estate. He has served as President of Alex’s Team Foundation for the past 10 years, supporting the fight against childhood cancer, and has intentionally grown the Wilson Group over the past six years with a strong focus on team culture and collaboration.

You’ll also find Ryan bringing people together through Real Estate For Real Life, the team’s podcast featuring clients and local business owners sharing their experiences, lessons, and stories from building their businesses.

For physicians and healthcare professionals, Ryan understands that flexibility matters. Medical careers don’t always fit a traditional schedule, and his approach is built around meeting clients where they are, helping them understand their options, and guiding them through the process.

As part of the Curbside network, Ryan represents what we look for in our Realtor partners: deep local knowledge, a commitment to clients, strong relationships, and a genuine desire to help people make the right move.

We asked Ryan about his approach to buying a home, what buyers often overlook, working with medical professionals, building a strong team, his dream home, and what it means to be part of the Curbside network.

1. What do you love most about being a Realtor? What keeps you excited about the work?

What I love most is being able to make a real impact on people’s lives during one of the biggest, and often most stressful, moments they’ll go through, buying or selling a home. I see it as an educational process. When we take the time to educate and empower our clients, walk them through their options, and keep an open dialogue throughout, we can guide them toward the best approach and set them up for success. That feeling of helping someone cross the finish line on something so meaningful never gets old.

2. What’s something you wish every homebuyer knew before they started house hunting?

It’s very doable, especially when you’re working with the right team of professionals: agent, attorney, loan officer, and insurance provider. With the right people around you, you can have a genuinely seamless transaction. I always encourage buyers to spend time upfront learning and understanding their options, so that when they hit the inevitable stressful moments of negotiating or decision-making, they’re prepared instead of hearing everything for the first time. Preparation is everything, it’s what allows you to move confidently when the right house finally comes along.

3. What’s one mistake or misconception you see buyers make again and again?

The biggest misconception is that you need a large down payment to buy. Physician loans can offer 0% down, and there are other excellent products that require only 3–5% down. I also see buyers underestimate the net benefit of owning versus renting, especially when you factor in the tax advantages and long-term appreciation.

4. Medical professionals often have unique schedules and career moves. What’s one piece of advice you’d give a physician or other healthcare professional preparing to buy a home?

Make sure you’re working with someone who truly understands your schedule and your life. Many of the physicians and surgeons we work with need to have strategy conversations at 6am or 9pm, and that’s exactly what we do, because that’s what works best for them. It’s equally important that your loan officer and attorney are on board with that same flexibility, so your entire team is moving at your pace, not the other way around.

5. What’s something buyers often overlook when touring a home that you always encourage them to pay attention to?

I always tell buyers to focus on what you can’t change. That includes the street, is it quiet or a busy double-yellow-line road, the layout, and whether it’s easy to open up a space or if you’re looking at a major structural issue, and the yard, since in most cases you simply can’t make it bigger. Finishes and cosmetics can be updated down the road; the bones of the home and its setting are what you’re really committing to.

6. What’s one sign that tells you a house is likely to be a great home for your client?

Honestly, it’s case by case. What matters most to one client can be completely different for the next, which is exactly why taking the time to truly understand a client’s wants and needs upfront is so important. Once we know that, spotting “the one” becomes much clearer.

7. And just for fun: If money, location, and practicality were no object, what would your dream home have?

A massive yard with a full-size soccer field, an incredible outdoor kitchen with a bar, and a comfortable outdoor living area with multiple fire pits and TVs, positioned so I could catch every game from the pool or the jacuzzi. And, of course, an awesome play structure for the kids.

8. Why Curbside? What do you value most about being part of the Curbside network?

We feel honored to work with such a vetted network of professionals who trust us to help make their real estate dreams a reality.
